A guide to preparing yourself for The King of Crows
The King of Crows will be here in just a few short days. The book, that is. We can’t speak to the man in the stovepipe hat’s plans. Those are for him to know, the Diviners to thwart, and the rest of us to get out of the way of. We’ve been eagerly anticipating this finale (anticipating? dreading? hard to tell the difference), and we know you all have as well. So now that we’re down to the wire, it’s time to take the necessary measures to prepare. After all, the body count has gotten quite steep and we can’t know what lies ahead for the Diviners.
HYDRATE
Preferably not with giggle water. Regular H2O will do just fine in this case. The King of Crows is almost 600 pages long, so this is a marathon not a sprint. You want to be appropriately fueled.
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH SALT
Standard precaution. Entering the world of the paranormal and occult carries certain risks. Better to be on the safe side.
RESEARCH BINDING RITUALS
If we’ve learned anything from the Diviners, you just never know when something otherworldly will show up and try to mess with your life (usually by murder, it always seems to be murder). In case the aforementioned salt fails (maybe you didn’t close the circle all the way), you want to be prepared to send naughty spirits back where they came from.
DO A SPEED RE-READ
With just over three days left, you can easily read a book a day and be all caught up and refreshed. Right? If not, our friends over at BookSeriesRecaps.com have helpful summaries of The Diviners, Lair of Dreams, and Before the Devil Breaks You.
GET A LAST-MINUTE TAROT READING
You may not get full-on spoilers from the cards, but at the very least you’ll be emotional prepared for the harrowing road ahead. Strength and fortitude of the mind, body, and spirit are required.
GET SOME REST (BUT GUARD YOUR DREAMS)
Again, a marathon not a sprint. Dreams can be quite lovely. However, you wouldn’t want to get trapped in one. We hear the sleeping sickness is rather unpleasant.
IF ALL ELSE FAILS, LET LIBBA BRAY HERSELF BE YOUR GUIDE.
